Services & Supports
Annually supporting more than 600 children and adults with developmental needs, Community Living Owen Sound and District has a vibrant history of building and sustaining working partnerships in the community involving local service clubs, education, health and the business sectors. The agency has been a powerful voice for inclusion since 1954.
Community Living Owen Sound and District provides person-centred support services. Our approach to supporting people is to always put the person and their family’s goals at the forefront. We believe in being proactive through early intervention and involvement. We believe in planning and service co-ordination. We understand the important role that family and friends play in a person’s life. We believe in using natural supports over paid supports wherever possible. We believe in life long learning and the empowerment of people, families, and the community through education, advocacy, volunteer opportunities and student placements.
Generally, there are no fees for our services however there are limitations to our supports. Community Living Owen Sound and District does not provide transportation services, financial assistance, emergency housing, health or crisis services. Participation is voluntary. An eligibility / application process is in place and unfortunately, there are wait times for most government funded services.
Access to some government funded services is managed through an agency or process outside of Community Living Owen Sound and District. Our commitment to all applicants is to assist them through external processes and to advocate on their behalf.
As a value based agency, staff, family members, volunteers and partners in the community work together in a team concept with people to effectively plan and provide person and family-centred supports and services.- Article Count:
