Position Overview:  

The successful candidate will share the support hours between two locations; 4th Ave S.W. and St. Francis. They will be dedicated to empower the individuals in their homes and community to achieve personal success and encourage independence in skill development. The delivery of supports involve following through with behavioural strategies, household management skills, relationship building, personal health and wellness and ultimately enhancing the quality of life of the individuals. 

 

Locations:      4th Ave South West & St. Francis  

Hours:           32 hours a week: 23 hours at 4th Ave S.W. and 9 hours at St. Francis 

Salary Range:          $20.03 an hour

 Seeks an Infant and Child Development Staff to join the Children's Services Team

 

Position:    Regular Part Time 

Location:   Traveling throughout Grey and Bruce Counties 

Hours:       32 per week 

Salary:       Grid Level K-1 ($23.34 per hour)  

 

As a member of Infant and Child Development Services, you will take the lead as you: 

  • Support families who have an infant or young child with a developmental delay, diagnosed disability or who are at-risk for a developmental delay as part of a home-based, early intervention service.
  • Screen, assess and provide intervention to a variety of families and adapt interventions to the diverse needs of infants and their families
  • Provide developmental information and anticipatory guidance
  • Are a part of a multidisciplinary team, and work within a family-centred model to develop individual family service plans
  • Establish working relationships with other community agencies and collaborate on behalf of children and families
  • Offer service coordination and transition planning to families
  • Advocate at the local level to ensure children and families receive the services they need.

Qualifications:

  •  A degree from a University or College of recognized standing in a field related to Infant Development
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with and facilitating a process of individual planning and service coordination for families of infants/young children with delays in development

  • Work related experiences involving home visiting, interdisciplinary team work and a knowledge of the local children's services system

  • Demonstrated competencies working with infants and toddlers with delays in development or children vulnerable to developmental delay and their families

  • High level  of understanding and experience with regard to infant and child development and the impact of disability and delay on growth and development

  • Demonstrated understanding of core issues related to lifelong disability/community living and ability to support families in addressing those issues within a family-centred/directed model

  • A strong knowledge base of infant and child development, family systems theories, individual family service planning  and, atypical infant and child development

  • Abilities to carry out infant and young children developmental screenings and family assessments

  • Demonstrated skills in service co-ordination, working with community service providers and early childhood educators, group facilitation skills and committee participation

  • Demonstrated practical experience in exercising independent judgment and initiative.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal, including record keeping, reporting, presentation and public speaking) and ability to work as an effective team member

  • Demonstrated abilities in use of technologies and various software applications

 This position involves extensive travel in Grey and/ or Bruce Counties and requires the use of a personal vehicle. A valid Ontario driver’s license, First Aid/CPR Certificate and satisfactory criminal reference check is required. Some evening work may be required.
