Random Acts of Kindness
Random Acts of Kindness for May 3, 2013
- I paid for the person in the car behind me in the Tim Horton's Drive thru. I know how I appreciate this when it
happens to me.- Jennifer- Ramsey
- Scott noticed Chris S did not have a Community Living T-Shirt, he thought he might have a
spare one in the car, so he went out to the parking lot and got it for Chris.
- A little birdy told us that Don Wilson down at 2nd Avenue left flowers for the other staff and
volunteers.
- I would like to report an act of kindness J
This morning, after morning meeting, I arrived back at my desk to prepare for the day ahead and there was a pot of beautiful pink tulips on my desk. This was such a beautiful surprise!!! Although there was no name attached to them, I found out that it was Meredith and her boys that anonymously placed them on my desk this morning.
What a great way to start a Friday; with a smile J

In May 2013, the Inclusive Communities Committee (ICC) will work to encourage a month-long celebration of diversity throughout Bruce and Grey counties, which will culminate in our third-annual Grey Bruce One World Festival, at the Market Square in downtown Owen Sound.
We are building on the enormous success of the previous festivals. Last year’s event drew between 500 and 600 people to the square, and was buoyed by both the moral and practical support of the City of Owen Sound and the Market, corporate sponsorship, and local agencies, businesses and schools — along with a dedicated, enthusiastic and energetic contingent of volunteers. You can read all about it in the Sun Times article at http://www.owensoundsuntimes.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3575555 (the 2012 festival made the front page).
The reach of this year’s event will be expanded in many exciting ways. In partnership with the Roxy Theatre, we will present afternoon (under the festival tent) and evening (onstage at the theatre) performances by the lively and popular Lemon Bucket Orkestra (billed as a “Balkan-Gypsy-Klezmer-Party Band”). The ICC has asked the Tom Thomson Art Gallery to join the celebration by mounting a visual, week-long show, downstairs at the gallery. And a community-arts project, led by an area artist, will be created by festivalgoers, during the day, then displayed in the region during the coming year.
— All this, plus an enlarged lineup of music, drama, storytelling, puppetry, dance and more — under the tent — along with crafts and children’s activities — in the market building and square — and more than two dozen displays from Grey, Bruce, Saugeen First Nations and Nawash.
This third celebration of our region’s diversity — past, present and future — will raise everyone’s awareness of the richness and opportunity we can all find here, and ensure that Grey and Bruce counties embrace and respect the diversity, talents and abilities of us all.
Many local agencies and organizations are offering information, as well as fun activities for children — and the daytime program at the Market Square, including a LEMON BUCKET ORKESTRA number, is all free of charge!
