The first Mom’s Getaway Weekend was held in 1996. Now, an annual event, this weekend is an opportunity for parents to get together, have fun, relax and learn from each other. Moms, who have children with special needs and are, or have been, involved with Community Living Owen Sound and District, have the chance to network with other moms of children with special needs and be "pampered".

With the dedication and hard work from the organizing committee of volunteer parents and staff, the Mom’s Get Away Weekend has proven to be extremely successful and is requested to be offered year after year.

The Association subsidizes the event and the participants pay a minimal fee to help cover the expenses. Door prizes and items for gift bags are solicited as donations from local merchants. A wide variety of professionals from the community donate their time to provide manicures, facials, pedicures, educational and entertainment opportunities.
